The International Regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea, also known as the Rules of the Road or International Navigation Rules, are a set of statutory requirements designed to promote navigation safety. These rules include requirements for navigation lights, dayshapes, and steering as well as sound signals for both good and restricted visibility.

The most recently adopted version of these regulations took effect on July 15, 1977. The United States Coast Guard created the contraction 72 COLREGS from the formal name of these rules.
