NavRules Requirements
Windows 3.1,
Windows 95, or Windows NT
Approximately 2.5 MB
of disk space
Color monitor
Sound card (or a
driver for your PC's speaker) for listening to sound signals.
NavRules is a Windows-based program. It currently is not available for Macintosh or
other computer platforms, and there are currently no plans to support other platforms.
(Sorry, but I'm a Windows programmer by profession and know nothing about programming
Macintosh or other types of computers. If somebody wants to buy me a Mac and teach me to
program it I might make a Mac version, but I don't think the chances of that are very
high. <G>)
A color monitor is required simply due to the fact that the program displays red,
green, yellow, and white lights as well as multi-colored flags and other color images.
Suggestions have been made to modify NavRules to work on monochrome monitors so that it
can be used on laptops, etc. This suggestion and others are being seriously considered and
I hope to implement them as time permits.
A sound card is required to learn the sound signals covered by the navigation rules.
The sounds include bells, whistles, gongs, and horns. If you do not have a sound card you
can still use NavRules to learn other rules including lights and dayshapes. Again,
suggestions have been made to allow for learning the sound signals without the need for a
sound card. Hopefully these suggestions will become a reality as well.
